This historic trail was carved from Valdez, past the massive glaciers, rivers and canyons of the Chugach and Wrangell-St. Elias mountains to eventually end in the Tanana Valley gold rush settlement of Fairbanks. Now named the Richardson Highway, the highway closely follows the old trail route and offers some of the most impressive scenery in the State.
